Acupuncture for Addiction
The 2013 figures published by the National Institute on Drug Addiction (NIDA) state that in the month preceding the survey, around 6.5 million Americans from age 12 and older had used prescription drugs (pain relievers, stimulants, sedatives, or tranquilizers) for nonmedical purposes. At this time, the institute estimated the number of cocaine users to be 1.5 million, and around 1.3 million had used hallucinogens such as LSD and ecstasy.
These figures bear witness to the problem of addiction. They are the ones who must potentially seek treatment from a holistic addiction treatment center to get help with their painful struggle with drug or alcohol abuse. Aside from medical treatments and therapies, there is now a growing trend to use a holistic approach to this problem. Holistic institutions that have both a residential and a holistic outpatient treatment center combine conventional medicine with alternative therapies to help individuals conquer their addiction
